There is a certain aura of confidence that comes from a person who started at the bottom and made it to the top of the mountain without using a harness. Robert has climbed the mountain and raced back down it so he could climb it again.

 

Robert started out at 18 years of age as a hometown mill worker and in the early eighties ran a wholesale used car business. In 1985 he and a close friend took it to the next level and purchased a local Chevrolet dealership, kept the location and renamed it Woodall Chevrolet. Every three to five years since, Robert has added a new dealership to his portfolio. Woodall Auto Mall now includes includes Chevrolet, Cadillac, GMC, Nissan and Hyundai.

 

In 2005, Time Magazine honored Robert with the Time Magazine Quality Dealer of the Year Award for the state of Virginia. This prestigious award now sits next to countless other awards and plaques in his office. Robert was appointed by the Governor of Virginia to the Motor Vehicle Dealer Board and is the only person from Danville, Roanoke, Lynchburg, Martinsville, or South Boston currently on the board. In 2001 he was Chairman of the Board of the Virginia Automobile Dealers Association and has been on the board of directors since 2002.

 

But all these accomplishments and acknowledgements only show a single side of Robert Woodall and the team of businesses that he has built into Woodall Auto Mall. If there is a fundraiser going on for a local charity, there's a pretty good chance Robert Woodall and Woodall Auto Mall are involved. He's donated dozens of cars to charity golf tournaments as a prize should anyone get a hole in one. They sponsor more things than anyone can possibly recall including the Danville Life Saving Crew, the FFA, Little League baseball, football, soccer and other activities for children. 

 

Robert's own children are active in the Woodall organization and Robert credits them with a lot of his success. Robbie Woodall is the General Manager of all of the Danville locations and although he is following in his father's footsteps, his own vision has emerged and has resulted in extensive sales growth.

 

Michael Woodall is the Operations Manager for Woodall Wholesale. Michael is vital to keeping everything operating at its highest efficiency.

 

Patrick Woodall mans the southern fort. In seven years, Woodall Wholesale has grown into one of the largest wholesalers of cars in the south.

 

It is impossible to capture the spirit of a man like Robert Woodall in words. The best way to get to know Robert is to get to know his dealerships. The positive atmosphere and "go get 'em" attitude that you'll find when you walk on any of the lots is straight from Robert's day to day personality.

 

While brainstorming on a slogan for the company, Robert and his advertising team were at a loss. Robert looked at the marketing team and said, "I just want to sell 'em." 

The ad team wrote it down and it stuck.
